Picture 24 Sagittarius Over Corfe Castle

Sagittarius is the southernmost sign of the zodiac making it difficult to observe from the UK, especially if you live north of the border.

This photograph was obtained following a day of heavy rain, making the sky very transparent. Sagittarius is seen here setting in a midnight blue sky, with the star clouds of the Milky Way stretching high above. The brightest portion of this identifies the centre of our galaxy containing millions of unresolved stars, also note the red 'flecks' within the star clouds which are vast clouds of dust and gas.
